David Rowland Studio revamped this historic sandstone terrace in inner city Sydney to create an urban gentelmen’s residence with a modern feeling of classic comfort. The neutral tones and dark features highlighted the existing sandstone feature fireplaces, convict built in the 1830′s.
The narrow courtyard was turned into a summer oasis perfect for lounging or entertaining. While not taking away from the buildings heritage, and enhancing the Georgian proportions, the updated scheme has a feeling of gentlemen’s club with a modern twist. A huge antique Italian gilt mirror looks perfectly in place with a mirror finish dome pendant lamp over the art deco dining table……a great blending of old and new to create an interesting living space with great character.
